LOCATIONS: NPCS OF RICHARD PARKER'S LOT

Some NPCs from Richard Parker's Lot.

OLD DINARA

If you ask her, she is the only honest person on the Lot.  Wears an ancient first-generation Horizon Werewolf sleeve with a pot belly (no mean feat considering a chimera's metabolism) and soft muscles from years of ease.  Covered in beads and bangles and deeply fascinated with astrology and the occult.  Dinara is a shrewd recruiter and is many refugees' best shot at escaping the Lot.  She does not sugar coat what it is she offers or make empty promises of fortune and freedom.  Despite her best efforts, some people will only leave the Lot as indentured sex workers, drug mules, or underprepared security contractors.  It should be their choice -- Dinara is not a slaver

Dinara's fixation on astrology hides she is an astute judge of character and has a nose for finding hidden talent.  She can find work for all sorts -- legal or not and set promising talent on the right path.  She deals with everyone from the mightiest Corps to the lowliest street gangs.  If you make it big, she asks only that you spare a thought for Old Dinara once in a while.

Dinara holds court in a large module filled with steam from her massive water pipe and filled with an eclectic collection of fine art, rugs, plants, and scrimshawed bones.  She is always surrounded by an impressive collection of servants, retainers, and combat drones though few people are foolish enough to bother her.

[Play her exactly like Ursula from The Little Mermaid if you want!]

MR. BROWN

Another talent acquisition specialist, Mr. Brown specializes in setting deserters from the war below on a more lucrative path.  He (though currently sleeved in a female body after an unfortunate incident involving a rival corporation) is only interested in people with combat experience but has contacts at many large security corps including PANSEC.

Mr. Brown is a stereotypical military recruiter with a bit more class.  He knows that his prospects haven't had a decent drink in almost a decade and sells himself as a comrade in arms; your best buddy with plenty of war stories of his own.  Of course he's really a suit under that slick image but he can convince the most cynical people he isn't.

Mr. Brown has a much larger security detail after the attempt on his life and usually holds court in a wood-paneled hab connected to the Lot's central tunnel.  While he's not usually in the business of setting people up with short-term work he sometimes owes somebody else a favor.

THE BRAIN THIEF

The Brain Thief is a myth, an effort to pin all the body theft in the Lot on a single malevolent being.  The idea that there's somebody running amok on the station wearing a new body every day is preposterous.  Such a person would be irretrievably insane.  Nevertheless, the rumors persist and the refugees keep disappearing.  The more likely explanation is ordinary murder for profit and then resale of the bodies.

GRIS

Gris is a slaver of the worst sort.  He's mostly in the press-ganging business and provides a steady stream of asteroid miners to belter crews.  Mortality rates are appalling and demand is high.  While Gris is rarely aboard the Lot in person (he's not popular even among the scum of the earth and knows it) his press gangs rove the Lot and have been known to force their way into undefended habs to kidnap more people when there's a shortage of refugees.  Currently wearing a human sleeve (but is actually a chimpanzee).
