SIMPLIFYING RESLEEVING

 

My first post dealt with resleeving rules.  Let's try to shorten them and tighten things up.  Leveraging the level-loss mechanics from D&D also dovetails pretty well with MoSh's XP-based-on-survival mechanic because giving players the opportunity to resleeve short-circuits that mechanic. 


RESLEEVING

When you implant your brain in a new body, make a SANITY save and a BODY save.  If either of those saves is a critical failure, you die, leaving your companions or next-of-kin with your substantial medical debt.  On an ordinary failure, you incur medical expenses equal to 25kcr or 10% of the cost of your sleeve.  Two failures stack.

If your original body is dead, lose one level on implantation.  

Unless you critically succeeded on your SANITY save, increase your minimum stress by 1 point to a maximum of 5.  This stress is eliminated if you resleeve in your original body, a clone of your original body, or merge with a chimera sleeve.

If you aren't implanted in your own body or a clone of your own body, make a SANITY save after implantation and each month thereafter, you must make a SANITY save at an inopportune time determined by the WARDEN to determine whether you have accepted your new body On a failure, take 1d5 STRESS.  On a critical failure, you also PANIC.  Continue making saves until you have accumulated two successes.  If you are in a chrome sleeve, make a save every month but if you have accumulated two successes, subsequent saves are at ADVANTAGE.  Saves may be required at shorter intervals for unusual bodies (i.e. primates in dolphin sleeves, battlemechs, starships, etc.). 

If you are implanted in a chimera, you may choose to ignore the results of the panic table but must make a SANITY save and take 2 STRESS.  After the first failed save all subsequent saves are at disadvantage.  After two failed saves, you have merged irreparably with the chimera.  Your next death will be permanent.
